Tonight when my wife fed she saw the bull following a cow that was blood tested preg. 2 monthe ago.  She is due Feb. 23.  The bull was definietly interested and she is passing blood, has tail cocked to one side and humped up.  Could she be trying to calve early/abort and the bull is sensing it or is there another problem?  We AI'ed her for the Feb. 23 calving and couldn't have been bred earlier.  The bull is with the cows because we had one that was in heat in Nov. and didn't want her to go open.  We'll check her again soon but wondered what you all think could be the deal.

Sounds like something's not right.  Bull senses that.  I'd keep watch on just in case she is slipping the pregnancy/calving early.  I hope that's not the case, good luck.

Sounds to me like for sure she has lost the calf & being that far along you'll want to watch her closely to make sure that she gets the fetus expelled. You may have to get a vet involved. It that is the case, don't wait too long so that she becomes septic.

She's much better tonight.  Doesn't seem to be in any discomfort.  Called the vet this morning and he said cows give off hormone scents when they are heavy and close to term.  The bull sensed that and probably tried to breed her.  Probably caused some lacerations, hence the bloody discharge.  He said keep an eye on her see how she acts.  Since it's only been 24 hours and she's almost back to normal, he may be right.

I will agree with the hormone theory with the vet. We had a cow calve monday morning and she was in the barn so yesterday I kicked her out for some excercise there was a lot of the barn with some young bulls and they were instantly interested in her and tried to chase her around and mount her. Had to put mine back away. Bad boys lol
