This was discussed on a earlier post and I think old cows were stated as from being 13 to 20 years old with possibly a couple older cows. In our area a cow going through the salebarn on a commercial basis is considered shot at 7 years of age. Mainly because of the teeth factor(or lack of).

The oldest producing and productive (IE still useful cows) we've had at our place were about 18.

Meanin, they'd still calve every year and wean a good healthy calf.

  I'm not into keeping them around for the sake of looking at them.

The oldest calving cow we had was a 22 year old longhorn, them things just keep going yeash..
