If you want to get rid of your coyotes, soak  steel pot scrubbers ( used to be refferred to as a Curly Kate ) in bacon grease. Scatter them out where the coyotes are frequently seen and in a few days they will die off......Can't pass the scrubber without tearing their insides out.
Another trick we use is set up flood lights and leave them on all night so as the coyotes get used to them. Drag a carcass out in the lighted area and load your guns boys. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. If you are going to use the bacon grease method keep your dogs tied and keep track of the drop spot so as you can retreive any that don't get gobbled up.

Find the big Chi/Angus cows that we finally got tired of during calving season.  Man nor beast was safe in the fields with them. ::)

My only comment on a few of these sure fire ways to get rid of coyotes is that THIS IS WHAT GIVES PETA THE AMMUNITION THAT THEY USE.  Leaving anitfreeze, ground glass etc would never be my chosen method of killing a coyote or any animal.  A bullet is much more specific and usually much more humane.  And you dont take the chance of killing your favorite dog or cat.

It's that time of the year again when I start working on the coyote population in the pastures. So far I've got 17 out of the pasture here where I live, I havent started in the other pastures yet. RW

If you want a cell phone ringer that you can ACTUALLY HEAR while choring....go to www.myxer.com and download FREE the COYOTE ringtone.....I've used it for a couple years...it sounds exzctly like one.

My neighbor came over and we were leaning against the gate talking when my phone went off.......he perked up and said SHHHHHHH....you hear them coyotes????.......and then I pulled my phone out of my pocket!!!  He felt a little stupid......lol

Last weekend me and my friend decided to sit over couple dead twins we lost(it sucked) and while we were wakin up the hill to look over them we were talkin (about 7pm full moon) and we said to eachother how loud we were and couldnt believe we would see anything withen mile because the icey snow was makin more noise than anyone can imange. we both had .243 that were long yardage gun. we peak the hill to see some spots, we couldbt believe they would be couple dogs untill they started movin at first when two stood together i thought they were couple deer grazin in the pasture. turnd out to be 6-7 coyotes that we took a couple pop shots at about 45 yarrds. one ran up to 20 yards from us.. we were more amazed than anyhing. nedless to say weapon of choice right now is double odd buckshot and 357 smith and wesson pistol.

We have a lot of coyotes; we shoot them when we see them. We have lost a couple of dogs to coyotes but never a calf. We have lost a few calves to mountain lions. One good thing about coyotes is they eat prairie dogs!  Elk have become a huge problem for us. They tear the fences down and eat all the cows pasture. The pictures are in front of our house yesterday.

Elk look really cool --- in someone else's pasture and hay yards.  Those are some nice bulls, maverick

buddy has a 270 rifle what do you think that would do to them
You can kill two coyotes with one shot with a 270 lol, did it two nights ago. Have about 20 running around our place and they raise hell all night long, so I've been putting muzzels on a few of them with my 243 ;D
