I'm in the process of building anew Creep Feeder.

I'd love to see pictures, hear ideas or even better yet see some plans for feeders that others have tried and found to work well.

Thanks in advance!

I like panels with openings.... I built one that I can adjust the openings .. if you are not careful the yearlings get thru... then pretty soon the 500 pounders won't fit... I had to re-inforce the dividers to keep the big uns out

Yeah I have used the panel types with the adjustable horizontal bar too, I also found that yearlings would try to ram their way through.

But what I need is a "Stand Alone" Creep Feeder that will go in a pasture, relatively far away from home.

So it will hold a relatively large quantity of feed, be somewhat portable, possibly have wheels and needs to be close to indestructible to keep suspicious cows and bulls from destroying it.

These folks can do it for you...........any way you want it, & probably save you money.  Steve Cody is a good friend of mine.  Give him a call.

I dont know what brand they are but our local feed store has some that are Green and have Yellow creep gates they hold 3 or 4 ton of feedand are on wheels  They  are pretty tough I can try to find the brand they did rent for $1.50 per day on a rent to own basis  not sure of cost I think around $2500 they also have apache brand feeders at another store I dont see as many of those in pastures. The green ones a lot of commercial guys bring them into the lots when they wean and fold the creep gates up and make them self feeders

Jamie... I would suggest you make it portable, ie: on wheels so it can be easily moved from pasture to pasture. I have several smaller creep feeders, but my favorite one is a metal creep feeder that has panels that roll up on cables on each side. It is on wheels and holds about 3 ton of feed. When we had a feed mill close by, I used to hook on to it and haul it to town and have them fill it with bulk feed and then take it back to the pasture. It worked slick.  Actually all my calves are creep fed.... because I am the creep that feeds them!

We use the mobile feeders as well. We also have quite a few of the older ones on skid that have become permanently placed in some of our pastures because it's too big of a pain to move them. They ones with wheels are the easiest to move, whether you have cell/rotational grazing like we do, or if you have to bring it home to fill it up. I'd love to pick up 2 more of them if the prices were a bit lower.

It all depends on how many calves your'e feeding, what their age is, and whether it needs to be mobile or not.

I like the idea of putting it on wheels, would make life alittle easier.

Just trying to come up with an idea in my mind what this thing should look like.

So I need to get this project under way.

I have a creep setup right now with portable panels so I'm ok for now but I need to get this thing finished before grass time.

This will be one of the MANY projects on the go for this weekend.

I scammed a mobile Home axle off of a neighbour last weekend so that is what I'll use to "Make it Roll" and tow behind the truck.

I think I have arough idea of what this thing will look like in my mind but I'd still love to hear any ideas or even better PICTURES  (thumbsup)

Perhaps the most important would be what size openings work best to keep small and young cows out but let fairly big caves in up to weaning weight.

Thanks again.
