We had a Crimson Tide Heifer Calf (out of a heifer) born 6 weeks early in the zero degree Wisconsin weather.  The calf weighs 28 pounds.  We brought her in the guest bathroom and submerged her in warm water to raise her body temp.  Then got her dry and to our surprise she nursed a human baby bottle with Colostrum we milked out of her mama.  It took 24 hours for her to stand on her own and have bowel movements, but we are approaching the 48 hour mark so we will keep trying.......

She can not reach the cows teats but takes the bottle well.  She is out of the house in the garage under a heat lamp.  We are making progress.  Definately a Crimson Tide fan as well (clapping)

She's precious.  Keep up the good work.  Time will tell.  Hope this story has a good ending, or should I say beginning?

So far so good.  She continues to eat well with normal feces.  So far no breathing issues.  Will update pictures soon.

That's good news. I have a foal saver blanket mini sized that we used for a mini donkey baby. If you could use it let me know I will mail it to you. Denise

If i was in your situation, and all the hard work you have put into saving this little calf and with her being a heifer, I dont think I would ever let the little girl leave my place! and trust me, I am no "big softy" either. I am the type who whenever I buy a dog, I have to breed her once so that she has paid for herself and has a reason for being there.lol Great Job on helping her pull through!!  <beer>

I love pretty much any baby animal, but I never thought there was anything cuter than a baby pig or a baby goat. She's right there in that category! Good luck with her!

Is there any chance of her being reunited with her mama?...or is this one yours to raise til weaning time?

She will be on a bottle until weaning time.  Mama was a first calf heifer so has lost interest and started to dry up.  The calf still wouldn't be able to reach the teats.  Plus....she is so spoiled now I don't think she would survive in the "wild."  (lol)

She looks like she is doing great. With her size, it reminds me of the goat show I was watching at a local jackpot, kid was about 6.2 and 200 pounds and his goat was about 30 pounds as soon as the class was over he just scooped it up with one hand and left the ring. I could see some doing that with her right now.

Don't spoil her to the point she won't go outside, hate to see pitchers of her laying by the fire next winter ;).
