This year we AI'd most of our first calf heifers to About Time. We are now preg checking them. Most of our other sires all stuck except the about time's. A couple were even bred a second day.Is anybody else having any trouble with this?

We gave everything BOSE shots and sync everything with lut and a few with cyders.

I only bred 3 to him and all of them stuck the first try.  We've never had great luck with syncronizing so they were all bred on natural heat cycles.  Not saying you can't get good conception rates syncing but that's what works for us.  I'm just hoping his calves are as good as I've heard cause I bred some of my better females to him.

I used him on 2 cows that we normally dont have trouble getting bred and neither stuck.  I ordered my semen this year from Bull Barn Genetics, never went through them before but they had everything I needed so I figured I'd give it a shot.  In previous years we are really successful with around an 85% conception rate.  This year we started 0-5, all with the semen from Bull Barn.  I rebred a few of the first group and have bred several other since, still waiting to see whether they cycle again.  Has anyone else done business with Bull Barn and had successful results??? Just curious.

Having the same problem with semen we bought at the beef expo from Hook. None of the My turn stuck. Also got some of Rogers walks alone and one and only, not one took. All came from Hook, you just never know how many times the stuff has been handled. Every straw from Top Sires (purchased the same day) took. I don't blame the bulls or Hook, but from now on I'll pay extra for fresh direct from the collector if possible. Doing a little research on the matter it is well documented that every time semen is handled cells die, which leads to dead sperm.

I hear ya... its tricky business just having to catch the cows in season in this god awful hot weather, now factor in low quality semen.  Lotta $20 bills getting flushed down the toilet, but normally the reward outweighs the risk.
