When ever I registered something I always go back into the cow or bulls history. I think it is important to carry along the cow names. That is my one suggestion. Even crossbred cows I try to use clubby bull names. Any idea on the breeding of these ladies?

If you re-read my original post the dam of your heifer. What is the heifers mother? Hence the cow family?

My son started showing at age 9.  (He's now 11)
His first Angus heifer was named Cindy Louisiana or Cindy Lou.
Cindy Lou had a baby last month named Samantha (his brand new girlfriend)
Steers named after friends in school.

Year two Angus heifer was named Savannah, his girlfriend at the time.
She has a new baby boy, un-named at this point.
His Angus bull last year was named Arnold(after me,Dad) because he was born on my birthday.

This year's heifer is a crossbred named Maxine.  Maxine was his grandmother and my Mom.
She was named Maxine in the hope she would live a long time and have lots of babies, just like her namesake..
My Mother lived to age 80 and had 9 kids.

My advice is to name them something meaningful to the child.  Can't have too many great memories!

Another name story-My cousins came from a family of 8 kids and were very poor-but we didnt know it-and had all kinds of adventures. Long story short-they lived in a real red-neck area-and the teenage: overwieght:easy with the greasers: meanern a snake< Patsy Kline looksomethin like RED NECK GIRL(Hillbillys in them days) was named Marsha Deal. Well-I named a pig after her-she found out-and jumped me in the middle of the road. My older sister-who was preppy-but real tough-whooped her good-had to be there. (lol) O0 O0
