I just put in 3 embryos by Darco & out of the Ali cow that is the dam of the Danigo pregnancies selling in Denver.  Our website will be completed in the next 2 weeks and will have details.  There will also be a flyer sent out before the sale with the cows and recips pictured. We probably had more Danigo calves in the 70's than anybody.  The calves out of black cattle would be very useful today.  The combination of Danigo/Ali will combine the muscle and milk of the sire with the calving ease and eye appeal of the dam.  I would not use any resulting bull calves on heifers until proven although we never had any major problems on black cattle with Danigo.  You can't cross on holstein, hereford or other european breeds without risks.

got these in an email i requested from meyer maine anjou.

880u is the dam of lot 23.  the dam is by ali and is a 1/2 blood mated to a fullblood maine anjou to produce a 3/4 embryo calf.

8s is the dam of lot 24b      the dam is a fullblood, so this mating produces a canadian verifiable fullblood maine anjou calf as both parents are in the canadian herd book.

Danigo looks like a really nice fullblood. My wife's uncle has a fullblood bull that we use to own with him that looks similar. Decent birthweights averaging around 90lbs and I have a couple of really good daughters that crossed great with Jake's Proud Jazz for their first calf. I'm hoping one of them is bred to DF Waco.

Anyway, I would post his Maine pedigree if the AMAA website wasn't so horrible. Here is the one on the Shorthorn site.

JTM - Really a nice pedigree (doeasn't get much better in the Fullblood department, IMO). Harding's Fauna must have been a real looker with Cunia x Topsy 290T.

I saw Danigo at Houston in the early 70's and Inox when Calvin Fryar bought him at a Sale at Chickasha, OK.  The 2 bulls were very different even though both were very structurally correct.  Inox was smoother and taller and a good fit for his time.  Danigo was moderate for his time with alot of meat and muscle and added his volume to daughters that were very productive calf raisers.  Rb8w was a very good bull when I saw him in KC when the Majors showed him and should have crossed well on the Cunia/Harding cattle.  I decided a few years ago to work to get something good and different to use on today's Maine cattle and we are getting there.

Thanks, He has been consistently making some really long bodied, thick, feeder steers and some really good uddered, calving ease, mothers. He is only about 5 years old and has many years left in him. He has not been collected yet but If there was some interest I am sure that they would get it done. We got him from the Bentley's in Kentucky. Bentley told me that Harding's Fauna did show at Louisville but I don't remember what she did. Razor has sired at least one herd sire that is being used as a commercial bull and the people are really happy with him. I was just showing my Semex rep. one of Razor's daughters the other day and telling him that she is out of a Fullblood Maine and he said that it would be great to have a field full of those kind of cows. Also, Brian Cates has always liked that cow out of Razor when he stops out. He can't believe she is a Maine and thinks she looks more shorthorn because of her smoothness of bone and smooth muscle look.

We moved these two recips home from the rent pasture and they look right on target to calve in Feb.  They have raised heatwave/heatseeker or maine embryo calves for me the last 3 years.
