Give Shadybrook a call. I am pretty sure they had Buckshot semen for sale in the US a couple years ago.
Buckshot is a bull that certainly was way ahead of his time. He would be one of the hottest sires around if he was alive today. Some of my favorites females at Shadybrook are Buckshot daughters.

Thanks Grant for the lead, and for your thoughts!

We are searching for the photo of his dam now. I loved Buckshot in person (2002)-
Digging over the weekend and found a printed email from Nick Hammett with this bull's stats along with other High Accuracy bulls from 2004. Buckshot-  WW 788/105  YW 1405/104  5.9 Frame

The only bull close in performance was MTU cujo 301 ww/ 753/112  yw1514/126 - frame was not listed but I have to assume he was mid 6 to mid 7's as most of the other bulls listed were far different from Buckshot. Keep in mind this list were bulls of the 90's.

Any photo of Buckshot himself?
The shorty heifer thread!  ;D  http://www.steerplanet.com/bb/the-big-show/shorty-hf-bulls/585/

He have enough middle for you?  I'd bet he turned out quite a bit bigger than 5.9.

I do not like this picture of Buckshot and I know there is a much better one of him, but I haven't found it yet. I will keep looking.
Buckshot was criticized for being too small framed when Mike Dugdale sent him to Shadybrook. He was moderate framed and was thick and had lots and lots of guts to him. He was years ahead of his time. Even today, when I go through the cow herd at Shadybrook, I can usually tell which females have Buckshot in their pedigree. He stamped them with more thickness and capacity. I think he would certainly be a bull that would be very popular if he was walking today.

Grant- Yes, exactly what Mike told me. Only he didnt take credit for the purchase?  It was in 2000 not 2002 we saw buckshot  in person.... pen with other bulls and a definate difference is frame and rib. I dont care for the photo, it matches the "era" as nearly all of the bulls photoed like this? I marked every buckshot daughter in the sale, all looked better in person then the catalog photos. Ryan you'll have to use Shadybrook Scotty - nate bought all of the Buckshot semen  ;)

We used a Buckshot son for a few years and he was a very good moderate framed bull.  Only kept one daughter and she has turned into one of my favorite cows.  Soggy moderate huge ribbed, calm as can be, great head, easy fleshing.  Udder could use some help but she is better than her mother.

The few people that I have asked about him (including manager at Shadybrook) has assured me he had lots of rib.  I initially thought he would be bigger framed, given his growth, and the way he looked in the pic.  But from the people that actually saw him, he was not large framed.  Guess I will find out eventually?

Endless Meadows:  What are your thoughts on the daughter so far?  What was she out of?

She looks like I should be using more of Buckshot AI.  She has been a very good heifer so far.  Grew like crazy and then stopped at the right size.  She's, I would guess, 5-6 frame and weighs about 1100 lbs.  She was out of a VERY good Brass daughter that started with one of our best cow lines.  Her breeding is: Buckshot X Brass X Gold Exchange X GB Dazzler 120.  The head scratcher of it is that her papers only say 13/16ths (new association rules).  I should be able to tell you even more in about a month when her Bonanza AI calf is due.

I was just getting started with purebred cattle when I picked 120 out of Gordon's left over pen.  I guess at the time there wasn't much demand for a roan horned bull.  It wasn't until later when I started going through pedigrees a lot more that I realized what I really had.  For some reason, I still don't know why, I never collected him.  Still wish I would have.
