This is the first year that we will are going to the junior steer show any tips on how to get the calves ready for this or what to expect when we get there would be appreciated.

I have heard that the kids have to do all the work and that the parents can’t even help with the daily care such as feeding or leading the steer etc.

Thanks in advance!

Good Luck there, its is so much fun in Denver, my favorite place- when we went it was true the parents couldnt even pick up the poop, only help tail them to and from the washrack, and exercise area, cant even tie out (at least then we couldnt) - we saw like 4 head kicked out cause of infractions - you can stand beside the kid while he was grooming and give them tips but no touching- be sure to enjoy its a great place and so pretty out there.

We live in Colorado and have shown at NWSS for years. Never the junior show though. I would definitely suggest you start the steer on electrolytes at least three days prior to coming. It crazy, hectic and packed. He might not drink very well. We use Mormon's Fire Water,I think that's what it's called.
