Any opinions on what happened at the show? I noticed they picked a different Sullivan bull and a different Cates bull than the national and reserve national champions in Louisville. Anybody that seen the show have any opinions on what happened?
My opinion from being at Louisville is that they got the top two bulls correct in Louisville. I might be a little biased on one of them(Flex) but that is my opinion.

The grand I agreed with, but from where I was sitting the Jazz bull of Fischers would have looked really good behind him.  JMO

JTM,

I'm impressed with the bull line up you have on your website.    I like all three of them and commend you on the choices you've made.    I liked the Flex bull in Lousiville and Denver as well, although he didn't seem to look quite as "fresh" in Denver.  I think he's going to do a great job for you.    Also, with the cow lines backing up Waco and Starbucks you should get some really good females.  Brian Cates told me he's really happy with the CF Sonic offspring and I can see why.  We also raised a Sonic bull out of ArSuLu Tonic and our Sonny cow.  I'm going to try to buy Oakbar Sonic back this spring to use him as our pasture bull.

Good job on your bull selection!! I'll be looking for great things out of your herd down the road!! JMHO

The grand bull, SULL Traveler I agreed with too.  He is extremely deep, good testicled, easy moving bull.  The reserve bull was a little up in the air.  Probably would have went with the Stockman bull or the young bull of Cates that ended up reserve.  I just didn't see enough flank or slope to the shoulder on the Jazz bull  of Fischers.  Was impressed with the line up in general.  Thought the champion was a landslide and a few solid bulls behind him.

Oakbar, thanks for the kind words. We are obviously pretty excited about what we have been able to put together. Star Bucks was a steal in my opinion and he will hopefully prove that down the road. We are basically just getting started. Like you said, I am hoping for some really good females out of Star Bucks and Waco. I think Star bucks could make some good bulls too. Then Flex will be used for making more consitent show heifers for us. I think these three bulls crossed on each other will be very interesting some day. We also just purchased another bull from Trevorguy Cattle Co. His name is "Complete" (pictured). 3/4 shorthorn and 1/4 Red Angus. He will be used primarily for our commercial program but I will use him on some purebreds and hopefully sell some semen on him. I really like Sonic also. The bred heifers that were sired by Sonic were a very nice offering at their sale this past year. Again, thanks for the compliments!
