There's a new Dottie that might turn into a contender!. Yesterday at a small warm up show at Olds HSF Xenia Dottie 35X won a the heifer calf division. She's a white Salute out of Diamond Sunset Dottie 38S. 2nd place heifer was another Dottie, Creekside Dottie 2X from the Bishop's. She was a Paintearth Rama 53U out of Alta Cedar Dottie 42U(a daughter of Frimley Nan Dottie43N)
Paintearth Rama 53U won the two year old bulls and was grand champion. He was impressive and should be a contender at the later shows. The Reserve Champion was another impressive bull, JSF Addicted 82U a son of Jake's Proud Jazz 266L. He is owned by Kenlene.
Bred heifers was won by ACC Candy's Winegum 14W for Sadie Anwender. Anwender's also won bull calves with ACC Trooper 3X. He was getting a lot of notice.

Dan, Trooper isn't that good red calf we saw is he? I wondered how that bull had gone on...
No. ACC Trooper 3X is sired by ACC General the white Northern Legend 3N son. Trooper is a light roan born this year out of a RB Red Eagle Y2K cow that was out of an Eionmor Chief 16H cow. He is really stout with an amazing hair coat.

Oh fantastic... I loved General (as you and Gary know!)
Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

there is always more aj especially when talking cattle, cattle families, and production.  I agree with thunderdownunder that General bull is pretty fantastic, I didn't see the son but from the amount of excitement my father and sister exhibited when describing him, he might just be one of the greats

Here's a sales coming up with some interesting genetics. The Rose's have been breeding some great cattle for year's and you will often see a Gar-lind name in the pedigree of a good one. Their lot 2 cow, Frimley Rene Dottie 72R, was one they bought from us( Frimley is my Mother's herd) as a yearling in one of our sales. Her sire was a bull used during the BSE and when we shipped him to market he brought the huge sum of $150.
No wonder the prices seem better today!
Here is a link to their catalogue and some videos.

I have 12H's yearling picture as well as my heifer Hot Candy's (she was kept instead).  When we had to come up with our sale features that year dad wanted only the best and Jacqueline had Hilary and I had Hot Candy.  Somehow we managed to keep our picks and dad sold his!

So what is the Dottie 55G cow in your avatar? I am assuming she is related. Neat to see a cow come from out of nowhere really to take over. I had never heard of that cow till maybe a year or so ago. Good for you guys.  She sure took a heck of a picture.
I answered this question a few years ago on this thread but here is an update. We flushed Dottie 55G to three bulls, Glenford Gus 4H. There are 5 offspring in Scotland from this mating at Smallburn Farms, 2 bulls and 3 heifers. Bred to Saskvalley Ultra 12J there are embryos at Caramba Shorthorns in Ireland. A son from this mating went with a group of 4 bulls to a large commercial herd this spring. We are still hoping we will get some heifers from that mating! We had two calves from the third mating to The Grove Kookaburra W735. Diamond Belvedere 29B at Hatfield Shorthorns in Manitoba and Diamond Bella Dottie 19B in our heifer replacement group. We have an AI calf coming in the spring by Belvedere and two embryos by him out of the Eionmor Lily 39S.
We also have Dottie 55G's last natural calf by Diamond Prophecy 21P in the herd. WE are planning on doing a few matings to her son Diamond Country Act 34C in the spring(a Herbourne B Manitoba Gus 13Z son). I also found a photo of Diamond Dottie 55G as a yearling heifer.
