There are a lot of 1411 around here, mainly because they are simple to work on.  the Deere are a bit more complicated but still a good machine.  Ain't a mf in a 1000 miles.

Deere's a good machine but takes a bit more maintance than the nh in my experience. We have a Deere as my family bleeds green lol. Although our neighbors nh runs beautifully.

Ran a vermeer for 3 seasons, the machine was sturdy and nearly matience free.  The blades have a pin and clip that let's you change them with little effort.  The one I ran was with the hitch on the lower 2 arms of the 3 point hitch,  quiet, maneuverable, and took on places we should have probably stayed out of.

I haven't seen any of them in person yet but i am partial to new Holland when it comes to hay equipment. The Massey is about four years newer and only $2500 more than the other two. The thing that scares me about the Massey is parts availability.

All 3 are OK, Deere & NH are good, be sure to get the impeller conditioner instead of the rolls.  Been running a Deere impeller for 11 years & love it.  Remember that NCBA members get a $500 rebate on Deere hay mowers

The biggest down fall that I see in the discbines is the long power train to drive them. It is hard to transfer power that far without either damaging the power shaft or the tractor's PTO out put. I have had several friends that fight one or the other thing pretty much constantly. It gets costly fast. I am leaning towards buying a disc mower instead B/C of that fact. I used to have a NH 499 and loved it. That would be my next choice. I wish NH made a 499 with disc mower setup.

I had also thought about a disc mower but was afraid of the dry time. A 5 day drying window is pretty rare in the spring time around here. I have heard that running the tedder will speed it up by one day.

I use the disc mower on grass hays and later cuttings of alfalfa, but that tuff first cutting, you might was well have the neighbor mow it for you...  Hard to get those stems dry

I recommend going with the brand that has the closest dealership. or at least the most customer friendly one. They are all good machines. I prefer nh or kuhn. As far as curing I like the rolls on high quality alphalfa and the flails on grass hay.
