Do shorthorns do good in shows?

So this is my first year showing and I have a purebred shorthorn steer, he is approximately 400 Ibs and he is really calm and nice, I was wondering if they do good in shows? My fair tends to pick black steers more then colored. what should i do to make my steer(Cash) stand out? (thumbsup)

Looks depend on the judge, breed dosn't matter it's what the judge is looking for.

Just feed him . deworm him . give him lots of fresh water and show him like you own him. Nice tame calf you have there.
