Draft Pick?

How are the cows out of Draft Pick? I am thinking about buying 15 head of Witch Doctor, Merer 734, and Draft Pick cows. They aren't breed to bulls I like (Eyes on the money and Jimmy the Greek) but I think they will work just dandy for me. Thanks

The draftpicks we have had are all good mothers and raise above average calves. Curious as to why you don't like the bulls they are bred to? I have seen cows very simular bred, have some dandy calves. Only seen a few Eyes on Money calves,but they were better than average,seen a lot of Jimmy the Greek calves that was way above average. My standards are pretty dam tough.

Sounds like you found some awesome maternal genetics that will probaly throw some awesome calves if you breed 'em right, which I have no doubt you will do!!! (thumbsup)

One thing about Draft Pick's... They're not the best about throwing solid color pattern.

I haven't seen many calves, and the ones that I have seen weren't much to speak of but I haven't a clue what they were out of. What would you folks recomend breeding them to? They are fall calvers now but I will be holding most of em back for spring calving. Wouldn't mind getting a couple nice heifers, but would rather have some good steers.

If it werent for the PHA issue, If i had an opportunity to buy 5 flushmate DP/angus heifers or 5 heifers out of the same cow and 734, I take the Draftpicks everytime. And I love Meyer cows.

These are direct daughters? How old are they? Those are a trifecta of great cowmakers and it just kind of strikes me that this appears to be a herd of old girls running low on fumes, but with a shot or two left at a goodun.

Regardless, they are what they are, and I think you will be pleased with calves out of both bulls. They can throw a stud about as well as anything going.

If youre goin for steers I would go with heat wave or a good heatwave son on the Draftpicks and 734s. On the witch dr.s I would go with a who son, Ree Heights looks like he'd throw some pretty cool steer calves, and if you got heifers with him I think they would be equally good.

Most are direct daughters. They are 4-9 years old.
