Hi Out there

I am down to the short strokes in buying a dry shipper and hard shipping case.
I like both the MVE Mini Mover Vapour Shipper and also the Taylor Wharton CX100 Vapour Shipper.
I like the Taylor Wharton shipping case over the MVE shipping case.
Of course the Taylor Wharton is more money.
Capacity and holding time don't vary greatly and either will meet my needs.
Anyone willing to offer their experience and or comments on these dry shippers.
It will be appreciated.

Bob

In general, is there a quality difference between Taylor Wharton and MVE tanks?  Or International Cryogenics?  Seems like everyone uses MVE, so just wondering what you all think.

I have 4 dry shippers. The first was purchased new for over $900 with no cover. The other three were purchased on eBay and they have all been good and cheap. The most I have paid is $350 for any of them. I purchased one for $1 as it said that the vapor seal was broken. I called MVE in Minnesota, and asked if they repaired dry shippers, and they said they had a flat fee of $200, for checking a tank out and fixing it if possible. If it could not be fixed, the fee was still $200. This tank was located in the eastern US, so I bid $1 and owned it. I had the seller ship it to MVE and they then shipped it to me. I have used it now for over 3 years and it holds every bit as good as the newer one.

In regards to the cover, I would never buy one unless it was cheap. I take a 20 litre pail ( 5 gallon) , take the lid off and place a layer of thick foam in the bottom. I then put the dry shipper in the pail, and pack foam all around it. Once this is done, take the lid, and cut a hole in it just big enough to fit over the lid part of the dry shipper. Snap the lid down in place and it is literally indestructible

Much of the year they sit here unused, but there are several times a year that they are all in use, shipping embryos and semen to many parts of Canada and the US.

Thats a great idea for the shipper protector!! If I ever get into shipping a ton of eggs and semen thats what I'd do!!!

I have seen Alta ship semen to a client in a 5 gallon pail.  It works!  I would just drill holes and zip tie it for even more safety.  We zip tie all dry shippers when transporting.  Especially by bus.
