Dry skin

Please help we live in Mississippi and we have 2 show heifers with super dry flaky skin! We have used everything we know to use vinager, Kleen sheen, double dip! Please if you have any idea what may help I am willing to try! We have never had this problem before and it's not all of them just 2! Thanks

Its old school, but we will pour rag oil on an old rice root brush and scrub the dry area with that. It will soften the skin up fast. Only catch is that it makes the hair really heavy so you need to wash it out good after a couple of days.

Is the dryness all over or only a few places( like tail head and top of shoulder)? Try revive or mane and tail conditioner.

Tail head and top are the worst a little on the inside of hind legs! Thanks y'all

That is exactly where ours will get dry when the shampoo doesn't get rinsed really good.  I'm certainly not saying this is the cause of your problem.

Give them a really good washing and scrubbing, then condition the heck out of them with a cheap Walmart conditioner. Scrub in the conditioner. Rinse and rinse and rinse. Blow them completely dry, and if it's cold then blow in some oil...final bloom, olive oil, whatever you have. Blow the oil into the skin, not just onto the hair.

You will get it fixed!! 

Thank you so much! That is what we will do tomorrow! The heifer that is the worst is my youngest sons heifer. He is 8 and he likes to do everything on his own with her. We use ezall soap and have never had a problem. But that does make sense. I will have to convince him to let us help him rinse. He has been very consurned about her dry skin! She is his (princess)!

Keep in mind also that over washing can cause dry skin because it will strip natural oils out of the hair and skin.  We only wash when needed at home.  Blow the dust out of them out n rinse or mist with water but no soap is adequate to work hair well IMO. We still sheen and oil after but have noticed that since we quit soap scrubbing as much our skin and hair is nicer.

Probably not rinsing well (everyone can be guilty of this!).  I have had luck with using Mane and Tail conditioner.  Rub it in and let it sit a few hours.  Rinse.  I have also been known to use a dandruff shampoo and let it sit on the area 30 minutes or so before rinsing.
If you are really wanting to go "whole hog", get a leave in conditioner such as Infusium and spray it on and leave it.  This works miracles.  Once the problem is cured, make sure you rinse really well in those places that are tough to get to.  Rinse from top down and back to front.  Seems to work for me.
