Since Heat Seeker's a TH carrier, he has Improver in his pedigree and might (probable) also be a DS carrier.  It takes some searching to find pedigree and DNA info on Heat Seeker and Heat Wave's DS status (neither has been tested?)  Since DSC mated to PHAC can be a train wreck, not testing for DS or ignoring DSC certainly has potential to cause problems down the road....  Is DS being ignored by club calf industry?  Most club calf sires have been tested for TH and PHA, and probably nothing else out of all the genetic defects in all the breeds in the composites?

Probable -Usually Fereers list the DS Status if they are clean-hes TH PHA clean-prob Ds . From what Ive seen DS is overated and alot of the time doesnt mean SH678900IT In my travels before we new-Ive seen 2 DS impacted  calves out of hundreds that  were by pedigree -Matt Bigelow, kevin Kimmerling and a cast of thousands linebred proud Jazz over and over and never saw anything out of the ordinary. Now if someone is stupid enough to line up DS and PHA-then God help the poor cow because its going to be a Smith and Wesson kind of day.TH is as bad if not worse-PHA is an unworldly evil. O0

I guess breeds can't ban genetic defects but if there ever was a case to ban one it would be PHA. By banning or eliminating PHA you essentially stop any......or much damage from the ds deal. By eliminating one defect you are essentially eliminating two defects.

By eliminating one defect you are essentially eliminating two defects.//// For the most part-there have unknowingly been hindreds if not thousands of DS on DS with the very rare mutant calf.-I saw one this winter and its been years since the last one. It hadwi a twisted deformed ankle and I guess the cripples Ive seen in club calf deals over the years may have been DS. Out of maybe 15 ds calves Ive seen they all moved around and grew they were just future burgers as most cattle are eventually. PHA is something entirely different-and I dont think eliminating PHA will eliminated ds-just the magnified effect of DS on PHA-unless DS is a form of PHA of sorts. O0

Exactly......Mark........I'm just saying...........I think you could argue that the DS condition would have never been recognized.......never discovered.......or worried about......if it wasn't for the PHA influence.

//// I dont think that the odd crippled calf really got alot of attention at least from my experience which goes back to the 60s It popped up once in awhile and that was that. The clubby guys that I visited like Jefff Connell (A GREAT BREEDER I DONT GIVE A SH)((&*%T WHAT THE POLITICAL LEMMINGS THINK) and Wendall Dunn DIITO-would get one once in awhile and it was just part of it-THE SAME THING WENT ON ALL ALONG WITH PUREBREDS it just didnt get back as much-might have been a lack of interested vistors..I personally dont see a connection-DS has only been on the horizen as a known syndrome for a short time-PHA is somewhat similar in that respect-but the damage from PHA is just UNGODLY-I think you need to see one-if it ever even got out of the side of the animal trying to bear it. DS is like a spike haired whining suburban mollycottled faggy, rich, spoiled, cowardly, effeminate, Beverly Hills Punk band singer VERSUS the Taliban or ISIS when it comes to a comparison with PHA  If you truely want to devote your time and background "influential or just concerned" I think the PHA deal holds ALOT of credence as a true bovine threat-DS isnt SHI&&*()%TO0

?????? As I understand it.........the severe DS symptoms occur when a DS carrier is bred to another carrier that also is a PHA carrier. Am I wrong in that statement. My point was exactly as you stated........the DS deal wouldn't have even been discovered.......or thought of as a genetic problem if the synergenic affect of the pHa and ds wasn't a factor. I may not understand this deal though.

The question arises tho-like Double Vision-hes DS CLEAN  but PHA IS A  CARRIER-so thats kind of an odd combo:and would be the closest example of some kind of equation as to the affects of pha to bring on dormant ds etc..
