Has anyone out there had much experience crossing Duff Angus bulls onto crossbred club calf cows for producing replacement club calf females?

IYO---Which one of the Duff bulls do you like best for this purpose and why?

Thanks,

I think New Edition has been used to most here lately B/C he is consistently making cattle that are big ribbed, easy keeping and performing. He generally moderates cows and puts very good uddered females back into the herd. We've been seeing quite a bit of New Edition in pedigrees on this year's online sales. Hobart is also on my radar, but have not used him here yet. His Dam is the famed 001 Donor. Tree Lane Farms owns possession of him and have had some very good looking heifers sired by him on their last couple of sales. Jetset would also be a bull to look at OMI.

We have been using Duff genetics on club calf cows for years.  Have also used them on Angus for making purebreds.  It has always been our belief that a good cow will have a solid Angus base.  The Duff bulls will do alot of things very well that other Angus bulls will not.  They are stout, thick, and correct.  Never have calving issues even on heifers.  They will not give you an increase in frame.  The females are super good milkers and can be bred a variety of ways because of their clean genetic defect status.  Good cattle with alot of options.  Look on page two of this forum at a post called "What do you think of this bull calf?"  That is a purebred Angus Northern Improvement out of a first calf Duff New Design Heifer.  Excellent Quality.  Behind every great bull is a great cow.  The Duff bulls that we have had the most luck with go back to the 814G cow.  If she is in the pedigree, it works good for us.  Use some with confidence if you ask me.

we use Duff Palermo cause he is owned by very good friends of ours.
they told us to expect big birth weights but we weren't prepared for how big they are.
however, after growing those calves out and now having breds sired by him, we continue to use him....
they are unmatched in depth, stoutness and quality.
however, we don't calve them 3 miles from home and we don't use him on heifers anymore.

How Big ?? Just curious. I've always liked the looks of their cattle. I even tried to buy a cow two years ago and dropped out at $5k, I didn't want to put more than that in a cow to raise Shorthorn Pluses with.

I own a Duff Basic instinct daughter (phenomenal cow) have another cow bred to Duff Hobart (high expectations). easy fleshing, powered up on moderate frames, fertile, and so far good dispositions. A friend of mine has a Duff Copyright out of a Who Made Who that is a very good young cow. I will try to post pics. Awesome program with bulls that work.
