my favorites would have to be Basic Instinct, New Edition, Jetset and Encore. I have a New Edition in the show string.

I saw this week in the new ABS directory that they picked up a son of Basic Instinct named Target out of a DCC New Look dam that will be fun to watch. I like the New edition, New Attraction, & New Generation bulls & one of the better steers IMO was the angus champion steer @ the Iowa State Fair. He was a Basic Instinct.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking of using palermo. He is a son of new edition. Have you heard anything about him or seen any calves. He is a new bull to genex and he also can be found on cattle visions. IMO he is one of the more impressive looking angus bulls but then again pictures dont tell the whole story about a bull.

Spencer someone on here used him last summer, but I don't know if he/she had any calves out of him yet. Do a search & I'll bet the thread will come up. It was on a thread that I had asked about the best maternal Duff bulls. Cab.

In our commercial herd we had a number of calves sired by Duff bulls this past year. They perfrormed really well on no creep. We also had a Duff New Edition daughter that we sold this year. She was moderate framed, fancy, little more bone and rib than a lot of angus. I think she was only 65lbs at birth too. Duff's program and genetics combined with Ohlde's are definitely at the top of my list for Angus performance. I would definitely recommend using most anything with their name on it.

They are really functional cattle in terms of being low input easy fleshers that milk.  However, all of mine are too moderate even out of BIG cows, have too much throat for the show ring, and all have bad additudes.  I've had several out of different Duff bulls and differnt cow types, but all these problems keep surfacing.

PurebredAngus cattle in general arent that gentle relative to a lot of breeds.  Plenty of Angus females are downright bitchy.

Duff's cattle originate from Ohldes.  Duff has bred a little more muscle and growth in them with slightly less calving ease as far as Angus goes.

Duff has a very interesting and growing natural beef feedlot program going.  He bought our whole calfcrop last year and likely will ghis year.  They are an outstanding outfit to deal with.  Unlike a lot of programs, money flows both ways - its not a one way street with them.

Our New Edition calves were some of the most calm & friendly calves that we had this year. First bull to reorder this year for me.

The Duff New Edition heifer that we halter broke this year was very docile and compared to the docililty of my Shorthorn calves. I have had issues with some of my other Angus genetics but not noticeably the Duff genetics. My experience is pretty limited on the Angus deal though.

Which duff bull would you say is the best for heifers/with the lowest bw and ce?  I have a heifer that's 75% simmy. Which one do you think will work the best on her? I also have an angus that I think I might AI to a simmy bull, maybe In Dew Time. Let me know what you think.

Look at the EPDs for the bulls before you buy the seman.  bw and ce is there for you with acc. for each.

I would recommend Duff New Edition for calving ease and lower birthweight, but I've only had one. Heifer, unassisted, at 65 lbs.

I used DUFF NEW EDITION 4 YEARS ago and liked the top end, some didn't grow as much as our other purebred Angus, kept two sons that excelled from very good cows ...Great dispositions ,easy fleshing ,plenty pf middle ,more bone & big feet or hoof on the cattle ....Very functional females whether I breed them to Charolais ,maine X  ,KEY X AND aNGUS .....fROM LISTENING TO THE CLUBBY GUYS talk about females these are some of those belly dragging kind with very femine fronts.... Use them on heifers with no problems ,and the EPD'S on NEW  EDITION WAS +4.0 THAT FIRST CALF CROP....
