We have been using the standard estrous synchronization protocols for quite some time and have not had any problems pulling cows out of anestrous and them starting heat cycles.  This year, most of our cows are either slow coming our of anestrous and not having visible heats or coming out really late.  Our conception rate on these cows are less than 50%.  We do a shot of pg, wait 3 days, give Gnrh while setting the CIDR, leave CIDR in for 7 days and pull it giving pg and then waiting for signs of heat at 72 to 84 hours and give Gnrh while breeding.  I am guessing this has something to do with the extremely long and cold winter and now the early hot summer.  Anyone else having these kinds of problems?

YES! I had a horrible year this year. I run a small herd yet and rely on ET and AI work to move forward. Not a single one of my recipes were good and the vet commented on the type of spring being at fault. So 3 or 4 AI bred and no embryos makes for a pretty disgusted me.

Us too, we run a small number of cows and try to put in about half embryos, but doesn't always work out timing wise.  We have run about 66% on embryos this year, but have put in all stage 6 & 7's except for one 4, which did not stick.  Our AI rate is less than 50% too.  We have had cows not go in to heat at all after the protocol and a cow give only 10 eggs in a flush that we normally get 20 plus.  The cows get Multimin, 30 days prior to breeding, and 30 days prior to calving and are fed free choice mineral that has extra selenium. We feed high quality Alfalfa/Orchard Grass year round and a small amount of grain daily too.  Not sure what is going on, but hope to get the last two stuck this Friday.

CRS, we try to set everything up, except donors, for ET. This year after the protocol I had one cow show a sign of heat and the vet said it was weak and he didn't feel comfortable putting an egg in her. We use vitaferm concept-aide year round, multi-min 90 at CiDR implant time, feed good quality Timothy hay and lots of pasture. This year we decided to have someone put some eggs in for us so we could continue to move forward genetically. Hope next springs is better.

Another disappointing day.... Took two to have embryos put in them, one had a good CL, the other had none.  Felt pretty good about catching the standing heat, so I put in a Troubadour x Who Da Man.  Hope it sticks.
