Look a little further into the exiit polls to see how he is doing the opposite of dividing the nation. I saw the same numbers and am gonna paraphrase them now, so don't quote me here, but that 96% of the black vote is only a 7 or 8% increase over what Kerry got from blacks in 2004, and only a few percent higher than what Clinton got from blacks in his years. The place where Obama made the largest strides compared to Kerry in 04 was with whites. Obama got roughly 10% more of the white vote than Kerry did in 04, in the exit polls that I saw (I think it was on CBS). It was the working class white vote that put him over the top in the key states like PA, OH, IN, in all the exit polls that I saw. The large margin in the popular vote is another indicator that the nation is more united than it has been in at least 8 years. He is in the process of bringing the nation together more than any political figure has in many years, it just feels like he is dividing it further to those who are so outspoken against him. A divided nation was when the popular vote went to Gore and the electoral went to Bush.  This is a nation that is coming together more than splitting at this point, it just doesn't seem that way if you get too much of your political commentary here at the Planet. Yes, he is a powerful orator, and seems to be a very natural leader, let's just hope he keeps up this idea of reaching across the aisle and advancing the nation without party and personal agenda, and everyone is not just falling for some Pied Piper, the way so many of the very conservative fear. Time will tell. Let's just hope and pray for the best and move forward. It's all that can be done at this point, short of moving to another country

i'll be specific.

the "large" margin is more of a sign of bush than obama.

he is not "in" the process of bringing the nation together.  he's breaking it apart based on class and public versus private sector, a typical socialist path.

obama doesn't reach across the aisle, he's left of left and votes present.  he's advancing stateism versus individual liberty.  democrats fear individual liberty as evidenced by the pornographic right wing media.  democrats are all about fear of being independent, distributed power, especially political power.  democrats want you to fear protecting yourself from yourself with all their restrictive laws.  first, it was smoking, then trans fat, then water.  it's gonna be more and more.

time will definately tell.  hope and pray.  what a joke. do or do not.  doers don't need hope and prayer to get things done, only the new religion does as they are too scared to be independent, that's why the democrats use them.  herd mentality.
