I have noticed a lot of new cattle/ag facebook pages going up from our Steer Planet friends, and I have an idea. And if you have noticed yet I think it is really important that we tell agriculture's story. Not enough people know where their food comes from. I realize these pages are mini websites for marketing your cattle and products, but what if once in awhile you post a beef recipe, or why people should eat beef. Maybe post a status of how calving is going and what we go through in these cold winter months to ensure mommas and babies are comfortable. I know rmtcc has posted some great status on his facebook page. There are lots of fun agriculture fact youtube videos that you could post.

Maybe by chance a consumer will run across your page and ask you a question about farming and ranching instead of Peta or HSUS. Just a thought.

Thanks Crystal!  Most of our extended family is not involved in the cattle business so they enjoy seeing a little of what else is going on.  Snow storms and -20* wind chills have a little different relevance in our lives than those that just have to run from the house to the car and back.  I'll try to keep it currant.

That's a great idea!  Another suggestion is to "friend" Trent Loos, even if you don't know Trent personally he is a great advocate for agriculture and he would accept your request.  He travels alot to spread the word.

Crystal Cattle, Great thought you have! I agree it is very important for everyone to tell their experience with agriculture and for other to educate others! It makes me upset that the kids at my school think their food comes from the store and don't appreciate agriculture at all. What is even sadder is that the School Administration dose not respect the Agriculture Department, we have done nothing for them to not respect us they just think agriculture is not important. That is why people like my friends and I are spreading the word that agriculture is very important to everyone and we NEED agriculture. Thanks Crystal Cattle!! - Lindsey
