I just wanted to see how everyones fall born calves are coming so far. What are your better ones out of this year?  We bred to Yellow Jacket, Carnac, Milkman, Lead On, Sunseeker, Alias, and Heatwave.

I am really liking the Yellow Jackets so far. They seem like they are going to be very stout and have an awesome look to them. The Milkmans are just plain out stout.  My Lead On's i think are going to be plenty stout and very cocky looking. All of them are very upheaded.

Let me know what else worked for you guys this year. I hope to have a few pictures tomorrow.

thanks alot

had 3 calves.  all heifers.

one by gmbs pendleton out of a midas/powerplant cow.  probably the best calf, super deep compared to the other calves out of that cow.
one by majors money man out of a paramount grandson/legacy plus backdraft cow, a little leggier, but so is the now cow
one by wild turkey out of legacy plus backdraft cow born today up and milking in about 30 minutes.  she has a reallly nice head, not as heavy boned as first calf.

will post pics later.

At the Homeplace we have promising fall calves by JPJ, Waukaru Goldmine, & KL Double Duty.  We expect several more in the next 30 days--included will be calves by Rob Sneed's 034 and our clean-up bull, a son of RB Eagle 226.

Olsen - how is the Sunseeker calf doing that you sold last year through Kris.

Here is an "inventory" of what we've got so far.  I have not had time to take photos:

Sunseeker - six calves.  I couldn't be happier with how they look.  We'll see how they turn out, but they all look good, no calving trouble, plenty of get up and go.

About Time - five calves.  I know he's fallen out of favor, but we used him last year because Kris Black sold some really good looking bulls out of him and Cunia bloodline cows.  We only bred him to females we had that were Cunia grandaughters out of a bull we got from Kris sired by Cunia out of Foreplay's dam.  That mating seems to flat out click.  Our best looking bull calf at this stage is out of this combo.  He's an absolute moose of a calf.  A couple others not far behind.

Punisher - only two calves - one bull and one heifer.  Both are really good.  Heifer might be the best we've ever raised.  Bull calf is one stout little dude, not real big.

George - two heifers and one bull calf.  Bull calf is only two weeks old and hard to tell for sure yet, but he looks like he's going to be good.  One real good heifer out of a half-blood Troy (Charolais) cow.  She's likely to get showed by us as an AOB next year.  As a group, real pretty Charolais calves.  The cow I really wanted a calf out of from him didn't stick (dam of our Reserve Charolais steer in Houston in 05).

Yellowjacket - Only one heifer this year.  Didn't get good conception, but it was just one of those deals, not a problem with semen or anything.

Rocky Balboa - 3 calves.  All look to be solid.

Dirty Harry - Four calves.  All real small when born.  They don't jump out of the herd yet.

Northern Improvement - one heck of a bull calf out of a Golden Child heifer.  A few other calves sired by him.

Carnac - Not much.  Lost one good heifer calf - apparently didn't have enough vigor.  One bull calf that may not be sound.

Triple X (ZNT's bull) - one real nice heifer calf out of a Bold Statement heifer, one red heifer.

Eyes on the Money - two calves, in one of our outlying pastures and haven't seen them much.  I think they'll be better than my Jimmy the Greek calves last year.

Here is our one and only fall calf that my dad and I are very excited about. I think that he should turn out pretty nice. He's an Eldorado out a Durango cow. He also made us wait two extra weeks for him. Heres this is the best picture i could get of him he's not standing very good though.

I had one very nice shorthorn calf out of one of my former show calves in september.
She is a purebred shorthorn from the WHR ranch and the sire was Spike Jr.
I'm pleased (clapping)
