Fan mounted mister or overhead mister?

For those of us who can't afford a cool room for the calves. Do you prefer misters?  I'm trying to figure out which way to go.  A mister system that mounts directly to a fan.  Or a overhead mister system with a fan blowing along with them.  Any difference?

Not sure if I explained / described my question good enough.  I'm debating on using a circular misting ring I can put directly on a fan like one Sullivan's sells.  Or putting misting system in the roof, above the cattle that mists down on them and then just have a fan blowing on them?  Any difference?

We use a long sting of misters above the cattle's head with a fan that pushes it out and down. It needs to be on a timer so it cycles, since they can get pretty wet fast. We take along a mister system to fairs also, that way they can stay cool at a fair. You can find them different lengths and types at Lowes or Home Depot. I suggest putting a filter on it, since ours get white deposits pretty quick without it. We are on well water, so a bit hard...

We switched to fan mounted misters and has worked out better for us.

we tried a pre made system (from k-mart I think) a few years ago and it just put out more water than we wanted, so we bought a sullivan's ring and never had a problem with the barn getting too wet with a fan/mister and another fan on each stall

I will add that we moved the kmart mister to the roof of the barn and it made as much difference in the temperature as the misters on the cattle, any sort of rig that wets the roof of your barn will make a huge difference on hot summer days

It is prefab. It has held up for two years of use now, and we have one set we drag to shows. We regulate how much water is put out by how high we turn on the water. We also have a Sullivans one that goes around the fan (red), but it broke after the first year of use and is not something that you can easily fix. Metal clips versus the plastic on the set we bought.
