Favorite Heifer Bull

What are your favorite bulls to use on a first time heifer. Best case scenario would to get a productive calf with future potential as a show steer or show heifer. In my case I have Chi x Maine heifers and am undecided on a bull, most likely looking at Angus bulls. I'd appreciate your opinions and experiences! Heifers are VERY muscular, square, and correct and i'd like to keep and improve on that.

Haha i'll have to look into him. Oh, and some extra information these heifers are out of Hollywood. And are NASTY little snots, very temperamental. A bull that throws calm calves would be a plus so kdis can handle them.

We just had a 50lb Total Solution calf out of a Heat Wave heifer. It looks to be a good one. good bone structure, sound on its feet, and vigorous at birth

or also look into the Ohlde cattle company bulls, maybe HOMER or LEGEND. Missing link is a very nice one but you have to watch what you breed him too. sometimes he can throw big ones.

My turn

We used Peer Pressure and got a 55 lb heifer out of a first calf heifer. We are going to use him on more first calvers this year.

Whatever you decide, be cautious with that Heat Wave on the top side of Hollywood. I personally would use a prooven calving ease Angus/Red Angus bull with high accuracies.
 
IMHO My Turn will not be even close to safe on any 1st calf heifers. Possibly Brad would ck in on this one. Not saying that I don't like My Turn, but wouldn't want anyone having unnecessary troubles.

I would NOT use My Turn on HFRS.  In my experience with him they don't come huge however I don't think they would come out of a hfr very good.  Plus with the hfr being out of Hollywood you would need to know the TH status.  I would suggest using an Angus bull like Northern Improvement or a bull with Ali Influence possibly.  We have an Ali x angus bull that we breed our hfrs too and get along really good with him

I agree not on heifers I guess I didn't really read haha. But my turn is one of my favorite sires he has worked very well for us.

I wouldn't use Doc. Have heard of some big ones out of him at a friend of mines place...

We had another Total Solution calf today from a Sunseeker heifer. Small and hyper. in the 50lb range. I'm sold on him

That's duff basic instinct but I couldn't find a bw on cattle visions.

If you want clubby:  Maverick, Total Solution, Gucci, Rocky Balboa, I80, Breathe Easy are all viable choices IMO.

I know your wanting to look angus.  You really don't need to.  I know Hollywood has some Heatwave and that is a concern.  Seriously, look at Major's Money Man.  I've used him alot and NEVER touched a calf.  They come out small and take off quickly.  The heifers can show and make tremendous cows.  I've also sold some really nice bulls out of him and steers.  I think he'd work really nice on your blood lines.  He's a PB maine, you can get papers on your calves, and he's proven.
