What's your favorite thing to do at a cattle show or on show day? I'll start taking care of my show calves, after everything is taken care of i like to sit down and have a conversation with friends and family. And of course being and the show ring.

Fit and never have to even watch the show. Just keep a can of glue or paint in one hand and the clipper in the other. <cowboy>

After weighed in and calves are eating....to sit in the chairs with the family and chat with friends who walk by and then play bags before the craziness of fitting begins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a good time at state fair... better than I should have.  <beer>  Included a day off from the ring, some bags (thanks RS&T), and a wife that discovered her competitive side.  Had the opportunity to watch my 8 year old play bags with the big boys....... needless to say I have  a new partner in training.

The best thing is definatly going out to eat after winning breed champion or placing high.. The best part of the show is the fitting and being in the ring, along with chatting with all the quality people in those barns

:)))

Maybe I should clarify, I would rather be so busy fitting that I dont develope bleacher butt watching someone else show cattle. I dont see why thats stupid. Im too old to show and would rather have someone else show em. Sure I enjoyed showing as a Jr but it could never compare to handing the halter over to a new showman for the first time. This post is of course titled "favorite thing to do at a cattle show or on show day" isnt it?

I love going into the ring for the "BIG SHOW" the one you have been working for all year and you seeing how at comfortable your calf is and how easily it shows because of all the hard work.

Also like putting em to bed after the big day, like rewarding them for their hard work

Watching my kids enter the show ring with their head held high and proud of the animal they are showing.  My daughter who is 10  says she could show all day long if the judge would let her..She won junior showmanship at our county fair this year as a beginner.  (clapping) (clapping)

I like being around good PPL, family, & friends that I share things in common with. I could sit and watch cattle/hog shows day after day if allowed.

sitting with friends and catching up, guessing who will win, and looking at our cattle knowing all the hard work the kids put in will soon pay off! First or last, each judge has a different opinion so my kids learn it is just another day with another opinion. Having my kids know they worked hard to get there and having fun doing it is the lesson we take home. My 13 year old grew so much this year, we can do nothing else all year and I will be so pleased!  (clapping)

Those quite minutes alone with my own thoughts about how the day will go. A little examining of the heifer, leaning on the showstick, getting the mind right. All alone in my thoughts. I love that part. And the seconds when you walk in the ring and your heifer can feel the excitement and prances just a few steps. And the hugs after the victory. My family hugs, we love hugs:)

I just like to stand (or sit) around and listen to other people talk about cattle or any other topic that happens to enter the conversation.  I have learned more just listening to people talk and tell stories than anywhere else I have been.
