Personally I have never used him but I do know people that have and from what I have been told he isn't really calving ease meaning i wouldn't use him on heifers but I think one guy told me he had a 85 lb calf born. Some of his calves I have seen sure are nice though.

shortie breeders, is final solution calving ease? rusty

No....
Fourth calf cow 110#'s heifer hard pull was ours this year. I saw several last year and this year. All that I have talked with have had birthweights 90-130#'s.

No he is not-we had a 115 pound bull out of a cow who has never had 1 over 80s. Personally-the whole low bw epd deal on some of the cattle with that background is a clique of 4-5 breeders who are really trading amongst themselves per-se. That hurts any possibilities of commercial use-although that is almost non-existant in the breed anyhow. I think the club calf crossbreeding deal is positive-we see alot of crosses on the planet that make alot of breeds attractive-and viable. O0 <beer>

It seems that Shorthorn bull sales are getting much better in this area. Up until 2 years ago, we sold almost all the bulls we kept by private treaty out of the yard, and for the past 15 or so years, we could sell 10-15 each year.5 years ago, I kept 25 Shorthorn bulls and managed to get 23 moved privately. When we added the Charolais cows we found that we sold 3 Charolais bulls to 1 Shorthorn, but 5 years later, we were selling 3 Shorthorn to 1 Charolais. Two years ago, we started the Sun Country Bull Sale, and quite frankly, even I was a little surprised that we could sell this many Shorthorn bulls. Our sale is held much later than many other sales but it seems many people were willing to wait. Last year I sold every bull born on the farm, except two, for an average of $2898.One did not pass his semen test, and one had a BW over 110 lbs so was steered.
Selling bulls is something I have worked on almost my complete adult life, and I am finally seeing some results. What is really exciting to me, is that we sold bulls into 3 outfits this year that run over 800 cows. If these guys are happy with how their Shorthorn bulls work for them, selling Shorthorn bulls could get even better.

In regards to Final Solution, I do not know of any bulls that come from the Trump line that I would call safe bulls to use on heifers. There are good heifer bulls in the breed, despite what some will tell you. One of the things we have to remember that if your heifers have some larger BWs in their genetic make-up, your choices of easy calving sires gets smaller.

Ive seen a lot of his calves in Texas, I couldnt tell you about their birthweights  though. It seems that he is going to average on calving, just really depends on your cows. If they are throwing borderline big calves, you might not want to use him. But for a quality show animal, you cant beat those Trump bred bulls.
