Hi pretty new to the cattle game. I did a search before I asked but didn't find anything. How do ya'll find people that are willing to buy kids FFA projects? Are there any crowdfunding sites specifically for livestock?
Thank you

In our area the kids send letters out to people and businesses who regularly buy from the kids at the fair, the feed mill they buy from, business in the community and such. Some hand deliver the letters to the businesses dressed in their FFA or 4H uniform. They explain how the process works and what the advantages of buying a project animal are, as well as what the projects consist of and how the kids and the community are benefited from these projects.

Basically this is the marketing portion of the project.

Talk to everyone you do business with, including pharmacy, liquor store, banks, auto dealers, farm equipment dealers, insurance agents, grocery stores (for a number of years Albertsons and Safeway purchased at our junior livestock sale), tire shops, etc.  Offer to take their bid to the sale if they do not have time to go themselves or put them in contact with another buyer who can take their bid to the sale.  If they have not purchased before, take the last couple of years of sale results with you to explain how the price premium over market can be a taxable expense for advertising.  We have many buyers who donate the animal and the processing costs to Meals on Wheels, homeless shelters, etc.  Other buyers resell the animal to another buyer for market price as part of the transaction and never take possession of the animal, but are huge sale supporters.
