I've got a steer that's gaining way faster than he's finishing.  Worried that he isn't going to get done....and if he does, what his weight will be like.  He's on Umbarger's Cattle Blaster.  I've been supplementing Power Phat.  Any suggestions on how to get him FAT as soon as possible?  Thanks.

Lower the protein of the complete ration and/or increase the fat content or energy level. Protein grows frame, muscle, and bone. Energy/fat will promote finishing.

Add some extra steam flaked corn to the ration. It won't hurt him if you are trying to get him fat.

Do what leanbeef says, then throw away all your supplements. Start 1lb/day of Healthy Glo stabilized rice bran. Work up to 2lbs/day.

Throw those complete rations out and get him some CORN, rice bran, and a protein supplement.  I've got steins butterball fat on whole corn and cotton seed cubes.  Surely you can do it with a beef steer.

Thanks for the input!  Rice bran is something I'm looking into.  I've heard of it, but never used it personally...

It's not all the same. Buy only Stabilized Rice Bran, and use Meal, not pellets. ADM/Moormans Healthy Glo is the best.
