Getting ready to use FW on a Meyer granddaughter. Was curious if anyone had any calves on the  ground and how they are looking.

Josh Blackford does and they're really nice. I usually don't like MAB cattle but he's a pretty dang nice bull.

We have a Fireball Whiskey x (I80 x Friction) heifer calf on the ground that is really good. She was about 75 lbs when she was born and got right up and went to nursing. I would agree with Justin that Josh Blackford's FW calves are really good as well.

How have the Fireball Whiskey calves finished when fed out?  I have heard that he is both THF and PHAF.

I have a THC cow that is a little smaller framed that I am considering breeding him to.  She will make them too small with NO grow when bred to a small framed bull.

Are Fireball Whiskey calves small and will they grow?  And NOT little "puds"?

To what type of cows should he be bred?

Fireball is not a huge bull. Compared to Blackfords Simmental bulls, he's pretty moderate. The calves seem to have a bit more grow to them than Fireball himself, but I don't think he will add size.

To: Olson Family Shorthorns,
My main concern is that he does not downsize his calves.
Thanks!

A clubby bull like him is going to downsize just about anything-the calves are probably great out of a big simm cow and the right size. In your case you need a bigger bull with some grow that crosses well-I would guess a thick Shorthorn or Maine  O0
