Looking for opinions on each and what cows the would work good on.
I have a simmi cow that I'm looking into flushing. Her dam is a BrokerxAngus and her sire is On The Mark

Both bulls are big time show ring sires.  Which one you use would depend on what  you need improve to get the calf you want?  What is the end use? steers? heifers? Firewater is definitely a harder calving bull, but puts power into his offspring.  I like his females better than his males despite his negative  milk EPD. Outsider a negative  birth weight EPD and better growth numbers but doesn't have the power Firewater can put into them. Outsider's making a name for himself being used as an outcross for cattle that have Firewater in  them. A bull similar to Outsider is CML Diablo.  Tim Bullock at Prairie Cove Charolais https://prairiecovecharolais.com/ is using Outcast on Firewater females.  Contact Tim for more details.  I would also look at PCC ROME 437B given what you have told me so far.

Be aware of rat-tailed offspring.  I'm not being critical, just wanting to point that out. I guess if you are in slick shear country then rat tails arent a big no no.  <rock>

Rat tails caused by th diluter gene in Simmentals or Charolais  hasn't been an issue in years. The animals that caused this issue have largely been culled out since the early 1990s.

We tried this cross once about 3 years ago and got a rat tail. It's still out there in the common AI sires.

What bulls gave you a rat tail? Also what kind of cows were they out of?  Were the cow, the bull or both slick haired?

Honestly couldn't tell you, they were commercial cows that we just had the AI tech use cheap simmi and cheap Char semen. We didn't record the specific sires, only the breed because we were jumping from breed to breed in order to maximize hybrid vigor.
