I'm sure there are people here that know more than I, so here is what I can tell you. There are different sizes, Small, Medium, Large and Extra large. The size you get depends on the calf's head, some have longer snouts some shorter. We had a variety of sizes in our box, as well as colors, Black calves black halter, colored calves colored halters.

The halter should be far enough bellow the eyes that it does not get into their eyes but high enough on their head so you can control them. It always seemed best to me to get the halter higher up the muzzle, just bellow their eyes. If it just far enough down that it does not bush the skin into their eyes it is good. some of our calves had broader muzzles so we would find a lead with a little more chain for those, other are a little narrower and we would find a lead with a shorter chain for those.

As the calf grows you will need to continue adjusting the halter, at some point you may have to get the next sizes up.

Some times you may need to wrap the chain in vet wrap, it just depends on the calf, some do not like the chain and will fidget the whole time they have it on. Others get used to it quick and never seem to be a problem.

this picture gives you kind of an idea, you want the halter to fit into the fleshy part bellow the eyes ant higher it starts to push the fleshy part into the eyes
