I was talking to my good friend Gargan the other night, and was telling him I was planning on flushing my oldest and favorite cow. Brandi is 14. To me, shes always been out of the box for an angus. Stout like a maine with a big foot and great haired. We've made close to $50,000 on this cow and would've been a pile more if we had sold the maximus heifer, and we have never flushed her once.  Shes an SAF Bullseye (Focus of ER son) x BF Rainman daughter. she came open on us, and I am going to flush her once to try and make some more foundation cows out of her. This past year, she gave us a blaze maximus heifer (PICTURED) that was champion AOB at the WV State Fair as a calf. I told Gargan I had three bulls in mind to do this cow to, pretty sure I know which one, but out of the three I wanted to hear some other peoples opinions on which I should do her to. Three bulls I am considering are 3C Macho, RSVP, and Long Time Coming

Impressive cow. Curious as to why not Maximus again?  Looking for bulls with sexed semen? What suggestions did Gargan give ya?

Not lock and load. Not a fan, and really not looking for any other suggestions than the 3 listed. We have thought about maximus on her again, but we have the one daughter and plan to breed her back to him with sexed maximus. I am not using sexed semen because we are reverse sorting

Long time coming gets my vote. Get the Meyer x Angus pedigree that has/continues to stand the test of time. Then from his dam's side ideally get a little cleaner/extended neck from Friction. I do think RSVP would do much of the same though.

Long time coming is virtually a no name bull. There are better options out there. In my opinion, RSVP or Maximus would be a good choice. You may also consider Broker or Uprising.

I am a Macho fan, love the 600u on his dams side. But he can really harden them up. I haven't had any experience with the other two bulls. You know the cow and I have no doubt you will make a good decision. I know you weren't looking for more suggestions but I have seen some nice mama's boy calves.

Looks to me like you're set on breeding to a simmi. No problems with that but why not consider breeding her straight Angus to try to make a younger version of her?Where she's 14, you might get many years left out of her.

Not sure what you mean by no name.  Do you mean hasn't had the daylights promoted out of him? Anyone who knows much about cattle should recognize 734 and Panda. Just because a bull isn't plastered on every website banner doesn't disqualify him from being a good one.  Disclaimer- I have no financial interest in the bull

You know I've tossed around the idea of mamas boy because I am a fan of wmw and Meyer. Plus I've seen a bunch of good ones like the parks heifer. As far as angus goes, we used to bred a lot to angus and run a lot of angus. We bred 50% of our herd clubby. Then 50% maternal and recips. We like the simmys and especially the Meyers for their ability to be maternal and cross with the clubbier to get what we want. I am never happy enough with the cross in the first generation of an angus cow x clubby. Plus we got away from angus because I think they are all about numbers, and zero about the actual cow.Ferko, I agree with you on long time coming. Nobody knows pedigees anymore, they just know breeders. I am not accusing john91 of that but a lot of people don't know a lot about him or are under a rock and don't know panda. If Bulls aren't shoved down people's throats they think they are no good. Too often I think Bulls shoved down your throat are overrated. I've seen people so high on like Italian stallion and telling everybody to flush to him. He's had 1 calf crop. Is that enough to know what he works on? No but Matt does an excellent job of having it in your face. Me and gargan had talked to about point taken. I have had great luck with him. Only bull who has treated me better is monopoly. A lot of people won't try him because the big 3 don't own him. Broker..... Broker has tore it up in the show ring but what have his females done in production? I've had broker calves and personally I liked my drivers better. But I could care less about having fancy females out of this cow. I want time tested momma cows. Cows that look their best when they're 3-4 not 6 months old. I want cows that milk, take care of their calves, and are consistent cows that your banker likes and keeps you in business. I think especially macho and rsvp have so much more knowledge and background to do this than broker. We're going to go long time coming and rsvp on her. Long time coming because of his momma, what I've seen out of him, and he's so different for a Meyer. RSVP because of the cows he has produced the past 5-8 years. The females you see vanhove and Bruhns produce. Plus I love the shot of red angus he will put in them.

IMO if you have sold that many $ out of that cow I'd be flushing to replace her. And what better way to do that than with another highly proven PB bull. Angus would be my first choice if she is registered. Simmental would be 2nd. A cow like that would be worth spending the money on the one and only Meyer 734, Macho is great choice too. Another Simmental option would be 3D. He shows up alot as maternal sire to a bunch of good bulls out there now. I don't know where semen would be? Good luck if that cow was mine she would be at Trans Ova if she could make that kind of money!
