Is this bull for real? Does anyone have calves or seen calves? Pictures would be appreciated. I have heard a lot of talk about this bull but there was only one calf in Louisville out of him and I haven't seen many sale cattle this fall bred to him or flushes out of him. The video from Denver looks like he roaches up in his top a little. Might be just how he's standing, it's not the best quality video. Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Call Willy Morris from Iowa. He owns part of him. The bull was kind of one that slipped through the cracks ans has mainly been running with cows down in Ms. I think. That's why there aren't too many calves out of him yet, but there will be a bunch coming this calving season. Below is a link to his picture.

He spent one spring in Idaho on the Bar 11 farm.  They are a little place in Sugar City/ Teton Idaho.  They had close to 30 calves born this spring and yes those calves are for real.  He is a good out cross to most of the popular simmi genetics of today.  I bred 5 units this spring now we will see if they stuck.  One of the heifers from Idaho won her class at the NAILE.  There are also several ET flush siblings from a subsequent breeding.  LF

Lost Farmer- I wondered if you had any contact info for Bar 11 Farms.  I would like to talk to them about their success with the bull.  Thanks for the help.

We saw him while at the Simmental Nationals in Iowa at a collection facility, and he is even better in person. I have a short video of him I took that I can e-mail if anyone wants to see. Just him in his working clothes. We bought semen on him, and plan on using it in the spring. If I remember correctly, he had several calves or females bred to him in the foundation female sale...

Can you send me the video?  I would love to see it.  I'm thinking of using him as well.

send me your e-mail and I will e-mail it to you. Here are some pics we took. Willie Morris had him at this facility so Simmi breeders competing at Nationals could check him out, but he told me he had just pulled him off of cows. He is walking on concrete, so he seems a bit sore, but when we walked on dirt he walked normal. Also, when I met with Willie after looking at Fat Butt, he was VERY nice. Told me if the cows I had in mind would click with him or not, and also sold me some Maximus semen at the same time (under market price). Here are two pics we took while we were there...

I knew I had a picture of this heifer as a baby.  The picture is not the best as the weather was a bit nasty.  This is the result of an 8 dump of slop on us.  Anyway here she is at a few weeks.

The guy that bred him said he has used him on heifers and is alright.  I am breeding him to some heifers this year.

I think this heifer is out of a first calf heifer.  Not sure but I know that there were several in this pen out of first calvers.

I have a small group of commercial angus heifers that I was thinkin fo usin him on.  I was hoping he would make some nice half bloods and get the girls calved out safely the first year.

I don't know about angus heifers but he worked for Bar11 on simmi heifers.  PM me for their number.  Good folks that are always willing to talk and share information.  I think Greg Brown has used him on heifers as well.

We placed an order for some semen today. Talked to Mr. Morris the other night about Cut Above.  Very informative conversation. I would suggest to anyone, call him up and talk to him.  Nice Guy.

I agree, Mr. Morris is very informative and easy to talk to about the bull. I bred my best cow to him , a big stout blaze faced 600u cow that seemed to be un breedable this year , but she stuck to him ! Should be quite the calf !

While any of you that have talked to Willy about his bulls, asked how the Climax cattle are turning out? I would think that there should be some females in production by now. Do any Steer Planet members have any daughters that are working out of him?
