Happy Thanksgiving everyone.        Gotta calf off feed for the last 2 days. Switched him over from Purina Fitters Edge to a finisher Showrite Throttled Up. He ate it for 1 1/2 feedings (approx 33lbs total) then done. Won't touch a ounce of it. I pour in into his feed trough and he starts head butting it so I just pull it out. He's on the hay. Loose in his stools. I'm assuming he will get hungry enough and start eating eventually?

Did you do the switch gradually or just an instant change? When they are on that much feed it doesn't take a lot to throw them off. You may have to start him back on the feed he was used to and gradually change over to the new feed. Someone on here should have experience with the feeds you mentioned.

I went 3 feedings mixed half and half with both feeds then put him on full ration of the Showrite. Thought we had it licked as he ate the first 3 feedings with np.

Go back to a half and half mix, then switch a little slower like 3/4 1/4 for a few days before 100%

Biggest thing to remember when changing feeds, is to stretch it out. Their stomach needs time to adjust. 7-10 days at least to get them transitioned over to a new feed. I always make sure to keep probiotics in them when we do feed changes.
