1st visit to FWSSR. Know of any nice, reasonably priced hotels for families? Any traveling tips, etc would be much appreciated.

Thank you

There are a lot of nice hotels near the stockyards to stay at. You need to get it on it though because hotels fill up fast and the show is less than a month away. As far as travel tips its a pretty good show. Expect to sit in line for a while why trying to get into the barns. The feed office closes in the evening so if your gonna be getting in late you might want to send someone ahead to get straw ordered so you can have a bed for the cattle that night. If you want to park inside the gate you need to get there early. By 6:30 a.m. it'll be full and even earlier on show days. Same goes for wash racks. Unless your in the monicrief you'll have a hard time getting into the wash rack.

Does anyone know what is going on with the parking this year. I thought I heard a while back that they were changing up the parking lots across the street this year.

Crown Plaza on Alta Mesa is very nice and has a stock show rate of 80.00 but I bet they are full. Like Show stated, its getting a little late at this point to find anything close but you never know until you try.

I was told there will be no early staging in the park this year.  only a few got in last year before they closed it off...

oooo LOVE Fort Worth.  Was just there over Thanksgiving.

Holiday Inn Express on Cherry Lane is nice.  Hot breakfast and not too far from grounds.

Look on Fortworth.com.  It is has connections to hotels, museums(you are right across the street at Will rogers from some really cool exhibits) and restaurants.  Might even have some Billy Bobs discounts on there.

Skip Cattlemans and do H3 in old Fort Worth instead.  Great Food.

If celebrating a good win, Texas de Brazil and BOI NA BRAZOS are awesome!  pricey but a very cool eating experience.

There are rodeos Fri and Sat night at the old Cowtown Coliseum in Old Fort Worth.

If you get to Old Fort Worth, stroll through the Stockyards Hotel.  There are some really neat pictures behind the staircase in a hallway of what the stockyards used to look like.  You can't go up the stairs but it is fun to take some pics there.

If you like Mexican, Uncle Julios is great.  Usually very busy but I believe they have call ahead seating.  The "gringos" place also around the corner from the complex has been there a long time and is good too.

JJ's Oyster Bar around the corner from Will Rogers has great seafood and doesn't mind a grubby cowboy

Someday might get there to show some cows instead of horses but LOVE that town!  Hope you have a great show!

The area north of Old Fort Worth is the newest area.  Up 35 and there are some really nice places to stay and it is very safe.  If looking for a little Shopping and have girls with, there is SAM MOON up there.  Tons of jewelry and bling bling belts for about 30-40 dollars just like the ones that you will see forsale at the show for 60-100.  A lot of vendors shop there and then price up the product for their booths.

We travel a lot and I always check bedbugregistry.com for any bedbug issues.  Safe Travels
