Fresh Weaned Montego Bay Steers

Just clipped out just a couple of the fall prospect calves that Wesley Ruddick from Decatur, TX had born this year out of Montego Bay.  Calves have been weaned right at two weeks, and are coming on like crazy.  They are so happy about all the money they will save by not having to go out and buy steers to show.

The first calf is a late September steer out of a Bojo first calf heifer. 

Second calf is an October steer out of just a commercial black brockle faced cow.

The second calf is real good-and maybe better through the tailhead (judging from pictures)than his sire: the first one (JMO) is alot longer ,(older) and looks to have the better set of wheels,but will not be as thick or deep ribbed,they are both good ones,just different-go figure,different dams O0

Both high qaulity. I really like the top steer calf.  Fits together nicely in his overall makeup and right-on in his design. He's green, green, green and will probably  surprise most people when he gets going on some feed and matures. Think he has plenty of rib  at this stage and looks like a high performance type of calf. Very nice.

I would feed either one, but probably would take the top one if you would only let me have one.

On that note, I am not saying that the second steer is too straight.  For me, I have to see pastern structure before I will ever say one is too straight.  If there is plenty of flex down low, and he can move...then I am just fine with it!

Thank you all for the complements.  Unfortunately I do not get to market these guys.  The steers are going to be shown by their family.  I will get to watch them develop and still do some fitting on them.
