i don't have semen on either but do have som on some of the bulls in their pedigree.  as good as the index calf is looking even since a week ago sunday when we took the pics, i need to flush to him to try to get some females as well as 1 or 2 others.

Manitou Mane Anjou is using some out cross bulls from France. you are right by definition but reality is different.  when cattle crashed in the mid 70's, the b(bysantin), c(capone) and a few d & e (epinal etc) bulls had been used extensively.  the later bulls were not because the speculators and many breeders got out.  then to stay in business calving ease and black selection further limited the bulls selected (cunia epinal streamliner inox the calberta bulls and not many more). after seeing many of the bulls thru the years, i came to the conclusion that some of the bulls never used much would work on todays cattle especially the blacks.  take index for example:  231 total progeny ever registered in canada and none for 30 years that had progeny registered out of them and most of the breeders that registered them are no longer in business and he was never used near that much in the usa.  so in reality he and many of the other older bulls with similar circumstances could be outcrosses to todays pedigrees.  Gary has had some impressive calves from his new french bloodlines. we visit frequently.

A bull that I like the looks of but do not know how he produced is Hillcrestview Conqueror 28C.  I really like the fact that his dam produced until she was 19 years old and bred on her first AI service 13 consecutive times.

BMB Fully Loaded. A direct Cunia son. Typical Cunia look, which is smoother made and fits together in their parts better then some Maines. Would change him off those front wheels. JMHO

was 1989 the last big year for fullblood numbers?  a lot of bull pics seem to come from 1989 or around there.  1993 was the last time a fullblood won a national show i think against blacks.

what about border creek future?  yes, he's an epinal son, but the cow's an out cross, though his calves might be too small and thus be a fire and ice mating for larger fullbloods leading to more generations to get consistency.  also, how about twin creek effort on some thicker calves, he's mostly solid.
