Would everyone be interested in a special section on the front page that provided information on  genetic defects?
We can work w/ the different places on carrier status of bulls/cows. Also have information on the defects themselves, how to submit samples for testing, and articles.
I have a person in mind that can head this little project up (DL).
What's everyone's opinions?

Also comments and suggestions on it would be great.
Also any ideas on what you'd like to see on it if we do it!

Red,
I think it would be nice  to have.  I also would like to see the photos posted.  I have discussed this with 2 Vets and a Vet student.  Only one had heard of PHA because he did a c-section.  DL is getting me some papers together to give the vet student.

I think on another board some post have been pulled.  The fellow who had the 275 lb calve recently responded to you or DL and his name was listed but nothing was there to read......  I found 3 of those things on that board.  I am sorry some people do not want to read about it any more but there are people who do not know and none of us know who will be next or if there might be some new information.

I do think you need to monitor what is said and if it is benificial or the post could get lengthy like the word game.....

love this board...there are three guys on another board that I wish were here as they are a library of knowledge in their brains....

God blessed us with some rain today...

I think Joe that is will be more of an information section. We can still post here about the topics but this would be where anyone could go & get what they need as far as facts. It can be updated to reflect any new information. Don't see why picutres can't be a part of it.
I think if it was a set section, then it wouldn't get pushed to the back pages.
I'll see what the admin guys have to say about it all.
As far as the other people- invite them to join us, the more the merrier! e've had 12 new b people join us since Saturday.
Supposed to get rai here tomorrow. Can't really say I want any!

Great idea, I know there has been lots of great information shared on this board that would be beneficial to have a resource for everyone to read.

Great! DL is waiting for an updated list from Dr Beever. I think we can have a place where people can get the forms & instructions on sending in samples for lab work. Also information on defects, along w/ pictures and another useful tools!
Thanks Jason & Austin (welcome)
We'll start getting things put together.

I'd be curious if we could have a reporting system on the page? Would be curious how many people have actually had a defective calf born? Maybe that's a good thread just in it's self?
Humm... Now I'm thinking how to word it & set it up?

Thanks! i think once we get some stuff ready we can shoot it to the admin guys. DL is wanting a picture catagory of the different defects she's encountered. Also would be interested in anything the group can provide.

Besides PH and TH which I think would be great, I think White Shorthorn syndrome (think what's called) as well as other genetic defects would be great. Pictures I think are also great. Pictures of different genetic defects as well as common disorders. IE like Red remember your topical bacteria infection. Pictures always help.

Yeah I think it needs to include more than just TH and PHA - other breeds are not immune and there are always interesting defects - White heifer is one that some people are working on....good idea ---
