Does anyone have experience with this bull? If so, have you had any problems with high birth weights? From everything I've seen it sounds like he consistently throws average sized calves, nothing too extreme!

I know of lots of heifers who've had Joe calves all without any problems.

My experience with joe calves is that they come out fairly small and explode into weight gaining machines! Last years best calves were all joes!

We've used him on 1st calf heifers and had no problems at all.  His calves tend to follow the cow type.  He's not a big changer, but his calves come out small and take off.

The only problem I have with Joe is that he throws red ones sometimes, has anyone else had solid red calves out of him?

Besides the red gene though, he's one of my favourite Maine bulls at the moment, along with Special Delivery. Calving ease, growth, muscle, and lots of power.

No big ones yet for us. Breed him to shorthorn crosses so the odd red one has come out, but also some good blues!

I had a solid red heifer out of a black Fear this cow and kept her...anxiously awaiting her calf from Money man.  We also had a red brockle faced heifer too that was reserve maintiner 2 years ago at the royal fancy heifer show out of him too.

Both were out of black cows that we've never had white or red out of.  BUT they were good. (thumbsup)
