(cow)    Well, after much discussion betweeen my daughter and my hubby, it looks like Shelby has decided that she wants a Charolais heifer this year to show and start "her" herd out.  She showed a Simmental all last year but she is dead set on showing and raising Charolais cattle!!  We are going to buy her heifer from some good people that have some awesome babies on the ground.  The three that she has to pick from were born in February, so it  won't be coming our way back to Texas until Sept/Oct.  She will still have her for all the major shows and that is what matters.  Anyway, we are going to fly into Kansas City sometime in June.  The town where the people live is in Scandia, Kansas.  Is there anything to see or do around there?? I think we will be staying for around 3 days.  Let me know if any of you live around there, I would love to meet some of you and see your cattle.

There are alot of breeders in that area. Ohldes and MCF come to mind right off of the bat. Elbee isn't to far from there either. Stop off at Jill's before leaving KC. There are a few other char. breeders in the area as well. Fancy Creek Charlois and Finks are both really close to the area. Numerous others come to mind if you want some more breed options (there are a bunch of simmy breeders in the Manhattan area) contact me.

You can try Bar S in Paradise Kansas.  I believe their web address is barsangusranch.com.  They have a nice herd of charolais that will be competitive in the ring and priced within reason.  You can also talk to Wooden Cross Cattle Company,  their website is woodencrosscattleco.com.  They are extremely nice folks as well and will do their best to treat you right.  Both ranches will have a good number of cattle to view.  Be prepared for a 5 hour drive to bar S from KC and 3.5 hours from KC to wooden cross.  You will see some nice country on the trip, as it takes you through the Flint Hills.

Cortland, KS is very close to Scandia. That is where Jensen's live. I know that Herefords aren't what you are after, but it is always nice to see an operation that is on top their breed. If you head to South centeral KS let me know we would be happy to show you around some Shorthorns and clubbies.
