I have noticed a lot of the steers and heifers placing high at the major shows are out of Golden Child dams.  Any idea what bulls they are using or what sires you have used personally on Golden Child cows and had success.  We have 3 young Golden Child females and are still shooting for calving ease but I am wanting to know for the upcoming breeding season what I might need to consider. Thanks.

I am not sure if this will help or not, but here it is. The one thing that I ahve found that golden child lacks is bone. We got a steer out of him this year. The calf is out of a sugar ray cow who always gives lots of bone. I guess that is just what I have noticed about golden child.

I used NORTHERN IMPROVEMENT on my GOLDEN CHILD heifer and i think the bull calf is pretty good.I have not tested her,so I am looking for clean genetics to get her bred back.also much to my surprise she has a exceptional udder and milks well.that could be the cow side though.734 x bando.

Seen an exceptional heifer this spring out of the maine bull Wisdom and a Golden Child cow. I think she brought like 15500 or something like that, she was a dandy.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think Golden Child WAS QUITE OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE PROVEN DAUGHTERS capable of having calves at major shows doing "well" in abundance.

I agree...I wouldnt really think they have been around long enough to have calves out of the power bulls yet.  Although Lautners have listed winners several times this year out of Golden Child dams. Maybe out of Ali?

Shaggy is right. Jason Reynolds had a 15000 heifer calf out of a GC dam and the HAA Wisdom bull. I didn't see her but for 15k she must have been a dandy.

We used him the first year out and just calved out our first heifers out of him.  We calved three I think and two of the calves are really good - one heifer calf out of Northern Improvement and a steer out of an Anchor son we got from Griswold that will make a Texas Angus steer next year.  Milk and calving ease was just fine on all the heifers.
