Thanks to Steer Planet, I now own and posses 6 amps of semen from '68 Par Cherry '71.  This bull was intensely linebred on the old Frank Haumont genetics, mostly Par Defender.  I had given in that none of this semen existed.  Without the help of the Steer Planet forum, this would not have happened.

Couple great looking bulls of that line:  Where can we find a '12 model of Defender Promise?

to bad, there isn't something in those pictures to compare those bulls to size wise...

a 6' tall bull built like that is a little more impressive than a 4' tall one.

There's nothing impressive about a 6ft tall bull.    I guarantee the size of these bulls would be accepted today the red bull looks like a good F6 to me.  The pic of par defender said he weighed 2600 lbs in the pic.  Just compare body to leg - I like 60% body 40% leg just like I see in par defender. Knowing his weight and the proportion of body to leg,  you should be able to tell this is no small bull.

Yeah....six frame is how I would describe these guys.  The bull my dad bought in 1972 was maybe even a 7.  Our neighbors would stop their vehicles on our road just to stop and take him in.

68' Par Cherry 71' weighed 2000-2100 mature. He was not small (6.5 frame) and was used by his original owner to add frame to the small cattle of the late 60's.  I also must thank SP for this experience it was a pleasure speaking with some of the inquiries on this semen. Frank Haumont's grandson even called. If only I had a bunch more to go around.

The sire of Cherry 71 was a full brother to Defender Promise.5-6 frame would catch most of the Haumont cattle of that era and they are probably a touch bigger today but that may be do to better management. When they decided to ship old Par Defender at a ripe old age they Hauled him in the back of an old pickup truck down to Grand Island.

Is there any Defender Promise to be gotte?  I've bought some older Shorthorn genetics and think it really has a place in todays world. Good cattle never go out of fashion. I've always  really liked the Defender Promise  bull.

Grousepark,
How do you plan on using the Cherry 71 semen?
This year I plan to use three amps.  Two on the original Haumont cows I bought four years ago.  Maybe one on the daughter of one of these cows that was sired by IPS Canadian Image of USA.  Then in a couple years use an amp on a resulting heifer.  This would be a sire/daughter breeding and if I can get a bull, I would pretty much have a replica of '68 Par Cherry.

Is there any semen available on MOLLIE'S DEFENDER ADAIR (Surge)?  Did anyone on SP use him on first calf heifers?

I'm sure there  is some somewhere.  A few years ago, I snooped around and came up short.  In the meantime, while talking to breeders.....I find myself feeling fortunate that I came up without any.  I know he did sire some famed cattle, though.
