I was looking at the sale catalog and thought that they had one heck of a set of cattle.
Anyone know what to expect on prices??
Do they have the sale on the internet?

I'll be able to tell you afterwards.  Hopefully prices are low enough we can get a couple bought.  We are expecting $3-$5K for their average bulls at the sale, but I could be very wrong.

We made it to the sale.  We bought an Angus bull (Anchor son - Lot 105) and a Meyer son (Lot 176).

Overall, I really liked the bulls they had there.  Pretty much all of them.  Didn't see any structural issues, and most importantly - the bulls looked like "bulls".

I really liked the Angus cattle.  I haven't ever been to one of Ohlde's sales or to Duff's.  I think these genetics will help our herd.  Hopefully make our crossbred cows a little easier doing.   But the first thing I'm gonna do with the Angus is sort off as many of our straight commercial Angus cows as he can handle and use him on him to get some more straight Angus heifers.

I had never really seen a large group of Irish Whiskey cattle before.  I must say I was much more impressed than I expected to be.  Many were PHA-positive.  They sold in the $3 to $6 thousand range.  The PHA free Irish Whiskey's brought blood - I loved the 201 bull and he brought $14,500.  The 175 bull brought $18,500.  The cattle were sounds and stout and looked to be very easy doing.

A couple of Angus bulls brought big money (Lot 102 - $25,000, semen interest on 106 brought $18,250).  Several brought over $5K.

There were some Carney Man sons I really liked the looks of.

I really like the Meyer son you got. Seems that if you waited you could get a bull pretty cheap. Heifers were also alot cheaper than I figured they would be.

Quality really didn't drop off much either.  We bailed out as quick as we were done.

That group puts together a quality group of cattle at every sale I have seen, much more impressive in person than just from the catalog.  Congratulations on your purchased, hope they work great for you.
