You all have seen this heifer from the start but this post is more bragging on what a great job the family that is showing her has done. I mean from where we started in November at Fall Classic to where we are at now is night and day. And the girl showing her has a connection with this heifer I haven't seen in a while. I am excited for Houston and next year with this one bred! The heifer was top 10 in a 40 head class at Fort Worth and was second behind the Champion ORB at Fort Worth and Reserve ORB at San Antonio this week at San Antonio.

I know we are all proud of our critters but,  I've been around a long time.  Ain't seen but maybe 1 great one,  need to be careful about using that term,  it usually comes back to bite you.

Just a small thought

What?

I can't believe the amount of false humility there is in the show cattle industry.  Ferruccio Lamborghini kick the dirt and say, yeah, it's an alright way to get from point A to point B. He said, this is a great car, and I did it better than the chumps who said I couldn't.  Antoni Gaudi didn't say that the Sagrada Familia was an alright little chapel.

If you have a great one, be proud.  Hard work and a ton of time went into making the animal that good.  It wasn't just pure dumb luck or some stroke of grace from a deity.

I'm not saying go all over bragging about how you're the greatest to ever live and nobody can touch you, but let's be honest.

Plus, I don't think the OP said anything about the heifer being a great one (she's a darn good one at any rate).

If you've only seen (maybe) one great one, I feel sorry for you.

Personal opinion of a great one. Going into shows anymore for me is taking animals I think are good and not caring what the outcome is because I know I put the best one I have and put the most work into it. Didn't say this one is a great on in the sense that it wins every day didn't try to justify why it got beat. To me that is a great calf everyone has their opinion and I appreciate that you have yours. I'm just proud of the work that this family has put into getting this heifer into the place she is at. I've seen a lot of people lately complain that they got best by lesser animals and complained about it that they should have won and blah blah blah but when it comes down to it either you join the crowd and join the trends to put yourself in a position to make everyone talk about your calf like it is a "great" one or you manage your animal to get to where you want them and accept that not everyone will like her/him at this point or this day and say i don't care what the outcome is because I think this is a pretty good female or in your own opinion a great one.

Pull up your original post of the heifer that you put up in the Fall.

Add the photo of her now, and see how all of the analysis of her as a calf played out.

She looks really good.  If I remember right, I was a little bit worried about how much flex she was going to have in her pastern, but that looks really good.
