Does anyone have any suggestions how to grow hair on cattle in hotter weather, even on bulls?

I have black Simmy bulls and live in Louisiana, and do not have a cool room, but still have great hair on them! Give them some fans, not necessarily $250 fans, and rinse, brush, blow, and put kleen sheen in their hair.

If you are in the heat, I would say the most influential factor determining if a calf will have hair in the summer is genetics. We are in SW Alabama, around 100 degrees last few days, and  here is what we do. We have them under a big chicken house fan with misters. We block the sun and try to get them in early in the morning. We rinse them in, again midday to cool them down, and before turn out. We also  brush every chance we get. Every calf has the same routine, but we will have one pretty much slick  right next to one with good, solid hair. It just all comes down to what their gentics will let them put on in the heat. We have found that the hair on the tailhead and legs is most influenced by our brush, brush, brush routine.Just keep them comfortable, brush often, rinse, and hope for luck (or wish for fall.) :)
