going well so far. First 10 range from $49,000 to low of $4100. All but the $4100 were 10 grand or higher!

Grizzly sold for $85,000
QDog sold for 6800
Radio Active sold for 5000

dead bull goes for more than a live bull!

Interesting! Do you know who bought the bulls?

85,000 for Grizzly doesn't seem like to bad of a deal. I thought it said there were over 8000 straws of semen selling with him. Even at 10$ a straw that would pay for the bull.
Money to be made if you have a few thousand laying around..

Grizzly sold for $85,000- not bad for a bull that already sold through that sale a few years ago... and for that load of semen..
QDog sold for 6800- still not bad for that semen.. whoever would be interested in cloning him, obviously this is pocket change to.
Radio Active sold for 5000- awesome for a bull that has to be reaching the point of decline.

I was surprised at some of the semen! I thought Northern Improvement was one that cost more, but he went for $35 a straw. Some of it went for more than what you can buy it for through semen sales people, some low. I guess it depends on who was there...
Oh, and Mo Magic went for $10 a straw! I never liked him, but heard of a lot of people who do and use him.

I don't think I get it. This is a dispersal yet very few cows and for selling 5000 units of semen to only have a few head of grizzlies doesn't seem right. If the bull is all maternal and calving ease shouldn't at least most of the bred heifers be out of him or bred to him? Other guyer bulls had no representation in the sale.

I have thought the same things...  but like it said in the catalog..  Dave's already sold off the cowherd, all except the donors.  He either sold them as breds, or carrying eggs.

The thing about not breeding the heifers to Grizzly- I'm sure he's got something new to promote and try to sell semen on instead... I was there the first time Grizzley sold, and I'd never call a bull with that kind of shoulder calving ease.

I'm sure Dave's been selling stuff off for quite some time now.  I didn't go to the sale, but sure wish I would have.  I've been to 2 or three others.

Dave's had quite a few shorthorns over the years, not a single one of them having anything to do with the sale...  Hmm I wonder?  I was thinking I could pick up some 20/20 semen cheap...
