Wonder if I need one of these.... Sullivan's Roto Fluffer brush & drill complete.... I'm in Central Texas without a cold building for steer... so our guy is really lacking on hair. If you have one give me your opinion!!

Make a shade type building ,if you don't have building ,put up a fan ,keep as dark as possible during the day ,use misters with fan and rinse half hour 3 times a day ....brush hair an use hair  conditioners for hair ....When you start getting hair you might need the ROTO BRUSH ...............
IF you build shade an have trees use them to help with more shade .....Use cedar fiber bedding an it will help with moisture from the misters an will help keep it cool..
Keep as dark as possible during day where ever you keep him ....

OK...so here is another question.... our steer is a San Gertrudis (mom) and Black Angus (dad).... can this steer even grow good hair or am I just throwing hundreds of good money into the wind??? Even Sullivans has a hair supplement I have it... hair product I have it.
Because I just ordered tarps to get his pen more shade... I can get the Sullivan Arctic ice box.... but if Red's genetics are not for hair then I'll wait on the ice box til next years shorthorn steer.

You'll be able to get some hair on him, but don't expect tons of hair like a clubby bred steer will have.

Melatonin implants will help, but you are probably out of luck trying to grow hair on a Gert/Angus if each side is purebred.

Darker the better.

Even if you do not get a lot of hair on him, the hair he does have will be healthier and give him a softer look if you work it every day like Freddy recommended.

Instead of trying to pull hair just show him quartered out all summer until he starts to shag up

Besides that I agree with the others about work and facilities but I doubt he hairs up this summer be better off quartering him out instead of having dull hair imo if I was still showing Americans

I am pretty sure the original poster here is no longer looking for answers as I am quite sure that five years later they are done showing the calf.  This thread was strictly brought back up by someone trying to sell a product.
