I have never used him, however I saw a real nice calf sell this spring for 5K that I really liked.  He was out of  a shorthorn cow and had the shorthorn markings.  I was wondering if he marks them consistently with shorthorns  pattern or is it a crap shoot?

We used Hairy Bear, and liked him real well.  The cows we bred to him were commercial Angus. If I were to fault him, I would say that he only maintained bone, did not improve it, and I would like to have seen more growth. You could blame some of this on the cows, but he should get a little of the blame. Overall we liked him. JMO

We traveled near and far to see calves out of this bull.[Hairy Bear] and found a lot of good one's,and most were spoken for. All of his calves that we looked at had adequate bone and tremendous hair. We looked at calves from a wide range of cows and it was about 80/20 split good to bad. Bull and steer calves seem to be a little stouter made, however we looked at some females that should make some really good cows and some will make show heifers. I like the fact that he seems to be out breeding himself, which all bulls should be able to do.the best calves we looked at were out of HS/Sim HW/Maine straight bred Angus and straight bred Shorthorn both clubby type and conventional cows. Talked to some who were going to use him alot more than in the past.

hairy bear is out of lifeline so if you are into the whole linebreeding thing then that's cool too.
What? He is using him on a char cow. He was saying Hairy Bear is out of lifeline so it should work well since Lifeline wokrs well on char cows.
